- Don't stress out about food planning. I kind of overwhelmed myself the day before day 1. You don't have to spend hours in the kitchen. Pick a few new meals to try during the week and then keep it simple the rest of the time. Luckily I figured this out by day 2!
- Snacks - I haven't really been hungry between meals. day 1 I had a grapefruit and day 2 I had a few macadamia nuts.
- Macadamia nuts - THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I never had raw macademia before. You don't want to eat tons but they definitely are a tasty snack.
- KOMBUCHA - LOVE THIS STUFF. It is a little strange, it is a fizzy, fermented drink with bacteria, sound yummy? Well, it really is. It reminds me of a fizzy wine, that may be why I like it. Buy the one with the least amount of sugar. The fermentation requires sugar but it goes away during the process so it is Whole30 approved and I'm happy about that. I've tried the GT's brand, multi-green & citrus.
- Avocado - I've always liked avocado but even more the last few days. It is a great healthy fat. Any way you like is good.
- Spaghetti squash - YUM, I've been missing out. I didn't realize this was so good. I really like it and if you cook it just right it is like al dente pasta and you don't feel stuffed after eating it.
- Spices - I love cooking and using spices. During the Whole30 you definitely use spices and creatively come up with new flavors. Very fun! I made a delicious sausage with rosemary, garlic, crush red pepper, oregano, salt and a dash of cinnamon. I added diced apples and it has been my favorite so far!
- Sweet potatoes - I made sweet potato fries and they were really good. I never really paid much attention to them. I will be making them again!
- Kalamata Olives - Everything tastes good with some kalamata olives!
- Seltzer Water - I've been using this with some slices of lime as a drink replacement for pop. It is really good.
- Sunflower Seed Butter - great treat! I like it much better than peanut butter.
Princess?
WHY is my blog called the Princess Without Peas? Well, I don't consider myself a Princess, I'm actually pretty practical OF COURSE. :p I have some friends & old co-workers that would RAZ me all the time and call me "Princess" I was trying to think of a name for this blog and I thought it would be funny. "Without Peas" refers to the Whole30 program I am following. No starchy vegetables and peas is one of them. Of course it was also a spin on the The Princess and the Pea! There you go, your curiosity has been satisfied and your life can continue! :-) Now, I'm off to get my nails done and finish by bon bons..... haha just kidding.

Whole30
Welcome to my blog! I want to use this blog to document my Whole30 challenge. The Whole30 is basically eliminating grains, processed foods, sugar & dairy for 30 days. If you want to understand a little more about how our bodies use food and how food affects us I highly recommend reading IT STARTS WITH FOOD by Melissa & Doug Hartwig. I couldn't stop reading it and everything they talk about makes total sense. I want to see how I'll feel and discover some new things along the way! I know that I can better my health by eating the right foods! Follow my adventure!
